I think khun 405 should try to think other serious issues - it'd be more helpful na krub - not be serious too much about these two Thai women (there are a lot of social problems other Thai women, who are not lucky as khun pop and pui, still face. Hi Nong Pop, I just finished reading your two best-sellers. I enjoyed it and appreciated the way you tried to raise the issues of women and their value, how we should look at ourselves, fix our own fate, that kind of things. I didn't know a lot about you only what you had been portrayed in the media world until I read your interv iew in Praew and consequently your books. I'm glad to say I've become one of your fans. Now I always look forward to read "Thinking out loud" everytime Praew arrives. One question, because your books were written in English, is "Thinking out loud" written in Thai or English? If it's wriiten in English would you ( or Praew ) consider publish both Thai and English versions as you did in your two books? There is a reason for this. The people who did the translation for your first book "Pop Speaks" did an excellent job. I don't have any complaints at all, actually I rather admire how they turned it into a nice smooth Thai article. BUT your second book "Boot Camp" was totally a different story. Not only that the translator did not have a nice writing style, sometimes what she (from the name I just assume that it's a she) wrote comes out totally different from the English version. Sometimes she had no clue about what you're trying to say and just changed it completely. In one article you put yoursef in Dorothy's shoes (not the red ones obviously) and told yourself (and Toto) about not being in Kansas anymore. The translator had zero clue about Dorothy or Oz whatsoever which is not her fault but I think she should have done some research rather than just used her own understanding and changed it totally. In this type of situation, it could really make your article not come across very well and could make it sound rather, err..excuse me..., plain stupid. Please be careful in picking a translator because your readers are mostly Thai and naturally they would choose to read in Thai before they read the English version. I'd like to see your book come out perfect by having a perfect and accurate translation. Isn't that what most people thrive for for their work? I'm sure you're one of those people. This has been a rather long comment. Keep well. We'll talk again sometime. For now I'll will just read about what you have to say in Praew.

Hey P' Pop, remember me? We met twice. I was the girl that tagged along with P' Jeep. Well, anyway, I came accross your page somehow and I must say, it's very good. I like your layout and the creativity put into this web page. Keep up the good work. Anyway, I finally developed the pictures we took together. :) Hooray! I saw you since you first received your Miss Thailand Crown and I had some questions in my mind about you. I was wondering why you always try to overreact in everything to make people think that you are so nice and you are the greatest among all Miss Thailand. I think you better shut up your mouth and calm down. I know you are trying to be a hero in Thai society but it against many people's feeling!!!! You don't have to show off yourself like that. my thai-nick is changpuak, I am german . I have been in the revolution in thailand, a sweedish friend of mine was shot in the stomage. I still have to cry when I see the pictures a thai-soldier is throwing his injured younger brother on a military-truck, and we know now they never showed up again. Dear Pop, I'm a teenager from Singapore, not Thai but I just wanted to tell you this. The first time I heard your name was when I bought the soundtrack of Nitramitr and was trying to find out what it was about. To tell the truth, till about a year ago, I never knew that such a thing as the the Thai entertainment industry even existed. Quite by accident I saw Sunset at Chaopraya, and I thought it was one of the most beautiful and heart rending films I'd even seen, in fact, not just one of but the most. I visited Phuket a few months later and I bought as many albums of Bird's that I could lay my hands on. Some sort of communication break down occured though, and the salesman told me that the Nitramitr soundtrack was the Sunset at Chaopraya one which I'd been looking for (I think maybe I misunderstood and he didn't really tell me that though), so I bought that. When I came home, lo and behold, there was another female lead instead. I found out later that it was you, but I didn't know any more so I thought you were another pretty face. Your name kept cropping up in a message board I went to, and when I heard you wrote a book, I was initially quite sceptical. Guess I expected it to be another Hollywood kiss and tell. However, quite by accident again, I followed a link here today and my opinion has changed drastically. =) I really admire your writing, and I think the best thing about it is your sense of humor. And I think your piece on a strong woman is extremely true. It's such a pity I can't get any of your books because I would love to read more of your writing, but I'll try to see what I can find here on the net. I hope you'll find success in whatever you do and never ever have writer's block. I love writing myself so I know how that feels...awful isn't it? Hi Dear Pop. Right now, i'm very confusing about myself, that's occured since the economics declined. I have work for private sector for almost 10 years and finally found that they're all nothing. Our country have so much debt after hard work. My opinion may be crazy but I really think like that. I'd like to turn my carrier to serve the nation and do something that really good for all not just for some people. I'm looking for different kind of jobs that suit me (I'm still working in company). Argricultural work is also my interesting but i don't have knowledge about that. I got Master of Engineering(IE.) and my friend, Navy, told me that he also studied Engineering, so I think the military may suit me. Could you advise me how to be a teacher in the military school like you? Thanks you very much.

Dear Pop: Here's hoping you're still at this mail address. Just finished reading Popspeak, about to start on Boot Camp (my wife saw it and I decided to buy them both). It's been nearly two years since I last talked to you by e-mail, and even now I can see you're the same Pop :) I saw you on Ekamai (had to break to let you across the street) about a month ago, and when I realized who it was I was of half a mind to stop in the middle of traffic and hand you my card :) You continue to be a great role model for the incoming generation - teaching, writing, doing military duty, etc. Your attitude speaks for itself, your actions are your heart. In many ways, it looks a lot like achieving the Great American Dream, but success hasn't gotten to your head. As for me, the computer company (Tygre Systems, in Seri Centre) I told you I was starting is now a year and a half old, and doing as well as I expected, even if there is a depression! We've invested heavily in education (all students and educational institutions automatically receive 5% off), offer limited lifetime service guarantees, and of course the advantage of speaking fluent English doesn't hurt - more than 80% of our business from expatriates and overseas-educated Thais. I expect Boot Camp will be every bit as interesting a read as was Popspeak - the only complaint I have is that I finished the book in an hour! Would dearly love to see more from you in the future :) Ready to open that Ben & Jerry's franchise yet? Regards, Ted P.S. Sawasdee Krub I've gotta say that I love your writing, P'Pop. I've read both of them and hope you find time to write another one real soon. Something I have to say, hopefully, you wouldn't find it offensive, but also i hope you'd take my comment seriously. You know, I did enjoy your book in english version, and I really think the Thai translation is kind of...not so good.. Well, I don't mean the whole thing,...partially... but that's enough to somehow ruin the fun of your book! Don't get me wrong. I'm sure the person who did the translation must be good and qualified, but I have a feeling that...she just doesn't totally get you! I mean, Thai language could be tricky when it comes to conveying emotions and hidden meanings, like, ironies...for example... if you should use irony, she wouldn't be giving the exact translation which really means what you really meant it! (am I confusing you now?) Well, may be when I get back to you later with the example of what I just said from your book, you might get a clearer picture... meanwhile, I really suggest you have someone read back to you the Thai translation of what you wrote. And you might find that I'm right!

Sawadee Ka P'Areeya(that's about the only thing I know in thai) First of all, I would like to say "Bravo" and give a "Standing ovation" for your performance in your first role. The chemistry between you and P'Bird in the movie was amazing. I'm from the states; so the movie gets here pretty late and by the time they translate the movie it takes even longer, because I don't understand thai. In case you're wondering, I'm khmer(Cambodian). Secondly, I would like to say that you're a great role model for all women in any age. You symbolize strength, true and natural beauty; not only external, but interal as well. You set a good example by showing your mental toughness, your positive attitude, and your ability to do whatever you set your mind to. Proving that a woman can do whatever a man can do (at the army, you proved the media wrong. Great Job!) Now, for the questions. 1) Do you plan on coming back to the states, or visit the states? 2) If you are, do you plan on going into show business here? ( I think you would be one of the biggest thing to hit the fashion industry. You would probably be the first thai super-model in America. You'd catch the fashion industry attention with your natural and unique look. ( P'Areeya, you're taller than Kate Moss by an inch or two) You'd probably get ask to represent cosmetic products, and do shampoo commerical, because you do have beautiful hair. You'd make it big time. You'd also do good in the acting career.) Ok, more questions. 3) Are you and P'Bird going to do another project together? ( I think you guys work great together. I'm also a big fan of P'Bird and would love to see some of the behind the sceen picture of him. So, P'Areeya could you please find time to post the pictures.) Well, that's about all the questions I have; for now though. I love the article you wrote about "the definition of a Strong Woman". That's the kind of person I want to be also. Sawasdee Ka P'POP i just left your suicide page a minute ago. Your home page is very beautiful just like you. So happy to see it. However, i have some problems to tell you and if it's possible please advise me what i should do. My problem is i don't want my parents to be unhappy. i don't have any problems for them to worry about. But it's about my brother. he don't know what to do as if he's aimless. my parents hardly say anything about it but i know that they're really worried about him. And i'm not happy to know that they have something to think. You understand? There're other problems that my parents have to face. i know but i can't do anything for them but only listen. i don't want to solve all of the problems because i know that i can't but what should i do to feel better? in addition, i will go to the UK next month to further my MA which makes me really worry about them. Hi...P-POP สวัสดีค่ะ..เป็นครั้งแรกที่เข้ามาชม web site ของพี่นะคะ เน่ได้อ่านหนังสือที่พี่เขียนแล้ว ( เล่มแรก ) แต่เล่มที่ 2 เกี่ยวกับเรื่องทหารยังเลยคะ แต่ต้องซื้อมาอ่านแน่ๆ เน่ชอบสไตล์การเขียนของพี่ค่ะ ดูจริงใจ และตรงดี...เน่มีปัญหาอยากปรึกษาพี่ด้วยค่ะ..คือเน่มีเพื่อนคนนึง ( ผู้หญิงนะคะ ) รักกันมากแต่เขาอยู่ กทม. เราติดต่ิกันทางจดหมาย และเจอกัน 8 ครั้งแล้วเรียกว่าสนิทกันมาก..และเมื่ออาทิตย์ที่แล้ววันเกิดเขา เน่ก็โทรไป happy birthday คุยกันอย่างสนุกสนาน แต่แล้วเรื่องที่ไม่คาดคิดก็เกิดขึ้นค่ะ..วันพฤหัสที่ผ่านมา เน่เข้าไป CHAT ครั้งแรกที่ห้อง www.pantip.com ก็อยากหาเพื่อนคุยน่ะคะ ทีนี้สักพักก็มีคนชื่อ ปูน ถามเน่ว่าใช่เน่ที่อยู่เชียงใหม่รึเปล่า เน่ก็บอกว่าใช่ เขาก็บอกว่า..เน่ขาได้รับ mail แล้ว คือรู้เลยว่าคือ เพื่อนเน่คนนี้ เพราะเน่เพิ่งส่ง mail ไปให้เขาดีใจมากไม่นึกว่าจะมาเล่นวันและเวลาเดียวกันแบบนี้ surprise มากๆ+ดีใจด้วย ทีนี่ก่อนหน้าที่จะเจอเน่เขาคุยอยู่กัยหนุ่มคนนึง พอเห็นเพื่อนเน่มาคุยกับเน่ เขาก็หาว่าเพื่อนเน่หลายใจ..ทั้งๆที่เขาไม่ได้รู้เลยว่าเราสองคนสนิทและรักกันมาก เป็นเพื่อนรักกันไม่ค่อยได้เจอกัน...ทีนี้เพื่อนเน่ก็ตามง้อด้วยการพิมพ์ไปง้อคนๆนั้นอย่างมาก เน่แค่รู้สึกน้อยใจที่เขาให้ความสำคัญกับเพื่อนที่รู้จักกันไม่ถึงวัน มากกว่าเน่ที่รู้จักกันมาตั้ง 7 ปี..น้อยใจค่ะ..เน่เลย log off ออกมาพอกลับบ้าน เน่ก้อเพจไปหาเขา เพลงของ Nicole น่ะค่ะ " ต่อไปนี้ " ที่บอกว่าจะไม่ยุ่งเลย ถ้าหากมันทำให้เธอต้องกลุ้มใจ.....แต่พอวันรุ่งขึ้นก็รู้สึกว่า..ทำไม..เราจะต้องมาโกรธกันเพราะเรื่องแค่นี้ เลยเพจไปขอโทษเขา แต่เขาก็ไม่ตอบรับมาเลย ทั้งทางเพจและ e-mail เน่เลยตั้งใจว่าจะไม่ติดต่อเขาอีกจนกว่าเขาจะติดต่อมา...เพราะคิดว่าเค้าคงโกรธมาก..พี่ป็อปแนะนำหน่อยสิคะว่าควรทำยังไงที่ ninejung@thaimail.com ขอบคุณมากค่ะ เนเน่จัง..

I just happened to pop in and realised it was u, the former Miss Thailand. I heard a lot about u and saw u on many shows. You're ambitious and pretty starigh t-forward. I like that in a person. I believe one should set forth to one own's goal. I have goals in life. I'm just on the way. I hear u are a pretty good prob lems solver. And u also did a great deal in helping others w/ their peoblems. Th at is really great. I wish I could understand everybody. But nobody knows everyt hing right? But I would appreciate u hearing me out and tell me what I should do . I have a boyfriend, who I went out with for years. recently, his father died a nd his mom passed away 6 years ago also. Now he's left with his elder sister. He 's graduating his bachelor degree soon. I hope. But the point is he's a Muslim a nd I'm a Buddist. So there's our major difference. And lately he's been under ev erybody since his dad died. Two of the sisters are married still living in the h ouse and another one is a lesbian. But the point is I don't think anybody can ac cept the fact the I'm a non-Muslim. it all happened after a few weeks after his dad's burial that one night they finally got up the courage to talk to him. They told him they knew we did it already. (U know what I mean!) And they want us to end our relationship right away. Now I didn't know this until the next day when his eldest sister called me and told me everything. she told me sex for unmarri ed couple goes against their religion. And which ever sins the children committs , the dead parents are to pay on the 7th day of their death. It sounds silly to me also, but I don't know if u have ever heard of such thing. So, we had to end it right away. The mad part is I didn't hear this from him. And I didn't get another chance. And he did not stand up for himself. he did waht he was told. That very night I got the courage to go wait for him outside of his cousin's house, which I know he's there at that moment probably hiding from me. When I got there, they lied that he was out but I'm no dummy. His car parked right in the house. He wouldn't go anywhere without his car. I know him better. Finally, they gave me permissions to see him. We got back together. I was happy. But these days it's different. We are not having sex anymore. But that's not the issue here. The thing that gets to me is being w/ him these days is different. I lost faith in him. I don't know when his sisters will break us up again in the future. He says he loves me a lot, but has a lot to do w/ religion. He canb't avoid that. Religion must come first to him. But u know, I'm not as happy as I thought I would be. They have big influences on him. And they know about us now. I can't face anybody. I am embarrassed. I can't face up to them as before knowing to them sex isn't just between two people, but it's between families now. And if it happened once like hell it can happen again. If u were me, would u break it up now or keep seeing him. I'm really hurt inside by all this. And nothing will ever be the same, but I tried u know. God knows I tried to make things better for us. I mean regardless of whatever they did to me, I still love him. I'm graduating soon and we paln to marry soon. But I have to convert first, then I can get marry. But marriage is the last thing I think about now. I mean if anybody can help me, it'd be him. But it's nothing like that. I loved him already and I don't plan to be with anybody else. The part that hurts the most is the fact that we love each other. How can I marry into the family I lost respect to? What am I gonna do? I know I can never forgive them for it. Well, that was a life huh! My life all right. By the way, I really like the fact u beacme a soldier. But what really made u decide to be one? I mean you were hitting it off in the showbiz and all. There are many good reasons, but most important it is to teach those officer offering the opportunity what is right or wrong? Well, that should be all for now. สวัสดีครับพี่ป๊อป วันนั้นนั่งชมดาวตอนที่พี่มาออกรายการก็อุตส่าห์รอคอยดูว่า Web ของพี่คืออะไร แต่ก็ไม่ยอมบอก พอดีเมื่อวานดูจันทร์กระพริบพอดีเขาบอกมา ก็นับว่าเป็นโชคดีอย่างหนึ่ง คือผมมีเรื่องอยากจะรบกวนพี่เรื่องนึงนะครับ คือว่าตอนนี้ผมเรียนอยู่ ม.6 แล้วอาจารย์บังคับให้อ่านหนังสือนอกเวลา ท่านก็ให้เลือก 1 เรื่อง จาก 15 เรื่อง พอดีมันมีหนังสือที่พี่แต่งผมก็เลยเลือกเล่มนั้น แต่ตอนนี้มันมีปัญหาอยู่ว่า อาจารย์ให้ทำเป็นรายงานส่ง ดังนั้น ผมจึงอยากจะรบกวนให้พี่ส่ง ประวัติโดยย่อมาให้ผมทีนะครับ จะเป็นพระคุณอย่างสูงมาก และช่วยส่งเป็นภาษาไทยด้วยนะครับ (ถ้าเป็นไปได้กรุณาส่งมาก่อนวันที่ 8 สิงหาคม 2541 นี่นะครับ) ขอขอบคุณล่วงหน้าอีกครั้งหนึ่งครับ

Today, I heard a story which stuck a deep chord within me. It was a story about being out of place, no matter how happy, how sad, how indifference, or how content. A person caught between two country, never feeling that one is in the right place. At times you think that its all going so well until reality hits. Plucked from the very garden that you can never return, and replanted in a garden that you never belong. I know this story, but it was my mother who told me about this other one after she w atched her homesick/taped-delayed television show from her homeland/Thailand/Siam. She was watching "The Twilight Show" or I don't know, some Thai soap. I don't know how she knows so much about you, but she got me interested. I don't know anything about you, but from what my mother said and the stories she told, you sound intriguing to me. Your claim to fame reminds me of a scene in a favorite movie of mine, "DUNE." Specifically, the part when "Usol" drink the "water of life" and the "Sleeper has awak en." I'm still sleepping, but maybe I'll see you in Thailand one of these days. I've just visited your website and couldn't help but admire your work. First,et me tell you that I'm not one of your teenager fans. We've met about 2-3 years ago when I was the president of an English-speaking rotary club in Bangkok and you were crowned a s Miss Thailand. After the meeting I asked you if you can still speak Thai and when you answered in Thai I was very proud of you as a Thai.
When I read about your life and came across the HA..HA and HO..HO, it reminded me of my youngest daughter. She has been studying in the US since junior high. Now she is in her 2nd year at the U.of Colorado at Colorado Springs majoring in Biology. She is s mall 4'10 ft. only but of the athletic type. She was in her high school swimming team who won 3rd in Arizona State competition. She also won many prizes in Archery. Top of all she got Black Belt in Takwando! Her grade is not so bad. It runs around 3.2-3.5 . She is lively and freindly but her problem is that she doesn't know what she wants to become. First she wanted to be a photographer then a psychologist, an architect. Now since both her mom and I are doctors, she talked her into becoming a doctor. I per sonally don't think that she is of a doctor kind and she will just give up practicing just like me many years ago. Since you belong to the same generation,even though not exactly the same age, could you give us some hints what she should be studying in? S he wouldn't mind starting all over again. Remember, she is a fighter!
