Happy Christmas to all. I’m taking a break until January so until then have a good one.
I saw PJ Harvey at the Olympia in Dublin last night where she performed without a band, I’ve seen her play many times but last night was really one of those quite extraordinary evenings where everything comes together just right. I don’t always get everything she does but last night it all made perfect sense, there really is nothing extraneous in her work she has pared it down to just the essential which for any artist is something to aspire to, it’s very inspiring to see it in action.

With Curtiss Pernice as Tom Waits and Ted Hafer as Peter Murphy (of Bauhaus) but hey sounds like Tom Waits and that’s good enough for me.

Andy Warhol’s Empire: Installation view at the Model Arts Niland Gallery, Sligo
I made the trip up to Sligo to see The Eternal Now, the Warhol exhibition at the Model Arts & Niland Gallery the focus of the exhibition is Warhol’s film work and for me the highlight was a beautifully installed Empire which I found quite captivating. I don’t do the best of the year list thing but if I did this is one of the best exhibitions of the year. The exhibition closes on December 22nd and, if you’ve any interest in Warhol, is a must see.
