More photos of Dublin’s Vectorial Elevation, this one from O’Connell St notice the Spike on the right of the pic.

An amusing – if it wasn’t so serious – synopsis of some of the hysterical coverage of the May Day rallies to welcome the accession states from Indymedia. I was dubious about joining in on Saturday as I was concerned that there the balance between protesting against certain trends in European policy – fortress Europe – but welcoming the enlargement and the new member states was tilting toward a blanket Europe-bad approach which I would disagree with. But I’m reconsidering in the face of the quite extreme scaremongering on behalf of the media and the Government. I won’t be bullied.

is a very promising 20 part radio series from RTE about Ulysses. The first part was a good general introduction to the background of the book livened up by archive interviews with many key figures like Oliver Gogarty. Real audio versions of each episode will be available from the RTE site.

Vectorial Elevation lights up the Dublin sky - far more spectacular then I had imagined – see it in person if you can.

Correlations between contemporary digital art and 20th century art movements. The link that really sticks is that with the Futurists especially with the increase in techno-fetishism in all things digital art. via Net Art Review

The call for entries for the Net Art Open is already a great success, I’m being flooded by entries. When I did the Net Art Open for the Irish Museum of Modern Art.com the consistancy and the quality of the work always really impressed me – there is a belief that if you accept any entry you’ll get a load of cr*p. Probably true with painting but with net art the general level seems to be that much higher. For this edition the quality is even higher again – this is going to be a fantastic exhibition.

Net Art Open 2004
Since 2002 Stunned.org ran the Irish Museum of Modern Art.com Net Art Open. Now that the IrishMuseumofModernArt.com is no more the Net Art Open will continue at Stunned with the Net Art Open 2004.
As before this is an open exhibiton with no thematic constraints which is open to all artwork which is net based or has a significant net based element. All work that meets the criteria will be shown. This is an ongoing call for work with no deadlines and entries will be accepted until the end of 2004.
2004 will see a change of format, rather then a single large exhibition as in previous editions the 2004 exhibition will adopt a revolving format which will focus on up to four projects per month with an archive of all entries. The exhibition will continue until the end of 2004.
