Bizarrely the USA is against the World Health Organizations’ plan to fight the worldwide obesity epidemic. The plan calls for people to limit their sugar and fat intake, and it recommends restrictions on food advertising to children. The Tate has acquired the Barry Joules Francis Bacon archive – mostly of material which was removed from his studio before his death. The Tate was famously offered, and refused, the Bacon gallery by John Edwards who then gave it to the Municipal gallery in Dublin a refusal which was seen as yet another snub to Bacon from the British art establishment.
